I wrote these lyrics while walking through a forest with my beloved dog, Spencer. An animal is one of the greatest healers. This song is possibly about the light at the end of the tunnel, but it's also so much more than that. ‘The Rise of Refuge’ holds a lot of weight when I reflect on what the word “refuge” means to me, what it was, what it is now, what I have gone through to reach this point, and what I envision my sense of “refuge” becoming.
