about

‘Return of the Dark White Horse’ is one of the more experimental tracks. It’s layered with guitar and crackling drum drones, feedback, and other vibrations allowing it to become almost meditative when grouped with the driving and repetitive piano. The entire song uses explosive and biblical imagery as a metaphor that ultimately reveals itself in the last three lines. It’s about realising the power of love and the necessity to open up oneself and one's heart to the force of that energy. On the other side of the mirror, it’s also about the looming fear of destruction and risk that comes with being vulnerable, trusting, and revealing one’s heart. It’s a song that is left open-ended.

lyrics

Cut from the crest, he's coming in
Mystic rose around his neck
Shards of time leave his skin
He's got that wishbone grin
He's coming again

He slits the sky, bleeding amber light
Impending genesis from emptiness
Death to rewrite
He's got my eyes locked in
He's coming again

A siren call, obsidian rings
The dreaming window to reclaim
That sweet spot of sin
His soft spell begins
He's coming again

A chain of swans, untangled, set free
Horses fall from the heavens
Rise of the wailing sea
And from his hand, I spin
He's coming again

A jasmine feather dipped in dawn's ink
Letters in embers across the heart
It's a message he brings
It's here again
The call to let love in

The force to reckon with
The cry to let love win

about

Blue Vow Cape Town, South Africa

Blue Vow is the solo project of Cape Town based Chelsea Ann Peter. What began as a spilled feeling in February 2021 had churned to the release of 'Sunfall' in February 2022.

Drawing influence from roots music, sombre ambience, distorted guitars, feedback and psychedelia, ‘Sunfall’ immerses itself in the darkness and the light, but finds its air on the edge where the two forces meet.
